Google has just launched its March 2025 core algorithm update

This means Google is making significant changes to how it ranks search results. The update is expected to take about two weeks to fully roll out.   

Recent Google Core Update History:

  • December 2024: Mid-December (relatively short rollout)  
  • November 2024: Mid-November to early December (longer rollout)
  • August 2024: Mid-August to early September (longer rollout)  
  • March 2024: Early March to mid-April (very long rollout)

Why this matters

  • Core updates often cause noticeable shifts in website rankings.
  • While the goal is to improve search quality, these updates can lead to both positive and negative changes in a website's visibility.   
  • Website owners should be prepared for potential fluctuations in their Google search rankings and organic traffic during and after the rollout.
